Paver Distress Survey

We survey 11 types of interlocking pavement distresses and 3 severity levels to calculate the pavement’s condition index

Interlocking Pavement Condition Index (IPCI)

Interlocking pavement distress data are collected through a paver distress survey. Each paver distress within in a given interlocking pavement section is evaluated by type, severity and quantity. Field data processing and reports are performed in-house.

These data are processed using the interlocking pavement distress criteria to arrive at a deduct value from the pavement section as a whole. Then a formula is used to calculate an interlocking Pavement Condition Index for the entire section. This paver distress survey is performed according to ASTM E 2840-11.

The resulting score is provided to our client along with field collected data and a report detailing paver distress cause(s), solution and recommendations including paver repair of the pavement system.

PCI data may be layered over time, providing a deterioration rate where plans for future maintenance, including paver repairs, may be scheduled.

The Interlocking Concrete Pavement (ICP) Condition Index chart is pictured below.
